JMM: „Sharone, How does it feel to come back to Munich after a while?“
Sharone Lifschitz: „I was just here – a month ago! But with the works it’s very nice. The opportunity to bring a lot of the works together and show them to a very specific audience is great!“
JMM: „Your new exhibition here at the Jewish Museum Munich will be opened at the end of February – the first works arrived last weekend. So, what is your schedule for the next days?”
Sharone Lifschitz: “This week we are putting together the second floor which is a collection of works from the last 14 years, that are about places other than Munich. Some of the works will be showing for the first time, so I look forwards to see it coming together. ”
JMM: “The title of the exhibition is „Smiling at You“. Where does it come from, what’s the story behind it?”
Sharone Lifschitz: “I guess in my work I use a variety of ways to engage with other people and one of them is smiling, others are food and conversation; but smiling seems to be the link that connects quite a lot of the works. It started as a suggested title to one work, it lost that work but then it gained the whole exhibition.”
